Fun Zone contains trio of new worlds to explore

I haven’t been this amped since Johnny Sokko and his Amazing Flying Robot took on Emperor Guillotine’s Ninja Monster back in ‘69.

Today, we’re officially launching an entire online entertainment section on http://www.thetelegram.com/FlyingPage/7284/funzone — as well as TC Media daily papers across Atlantic Canada and Saskatchewan.

This new Fun Zone contains a trio of new worlds to explore, including comics, puzzles and even horoscopes.

In the immortal words of Popeye: “It yam a very big deal.”

This is a place to pause and play — to grab a chuckle, master a quick brain tease or even offer up a possible moment of reflection.

As part of our recent revamping of comics and puzzles within our newspapers, this virtual Comics Kingdom will be home to more than 80 of the most popular strips available — from Arctic Circle to Zippy the Pinhead.

Once inside, you can search for newspaper standards, such as Dennis the Menace and Blondie, or frat-fall your way across new favorites, including the offbeat characters of Piranha Club and DeFlocked.

In an adjoining section, Our Puzzles Palace is packed with some of the best games and mind-twisters available.

You can take on the Thomas Joseph Crossword without dulling a pencil or play Classic Sudoku online. And if they prove too intense, switch over to pasttimes like Ice Cream Blast, where you drop toppings onto an ice cream cone.

And finally, for those of you who believe in the stars to guide you, we’ve created a quiet space to check out your daily horoscope – in fact, your individual horoscope.

As your local paper, we are committed to strong community journalism first, and are giving our reporters the tools and training to bring you exclusive and enterprising stories, pictures, video and views. Our trade is true storytelling. But we also understand the importance of moments of entertainment and simple amusement. Times to just let your mind roam.

As an increasing number of you are following this newspaper on your computer, tablet and smart phone, we’re investing in offering up ever-expanding worlds of content across multiple platforms.

We’ve only just begun to add new elements and new corners for readers to explore.

We hope you’ll find the possibilities — and this new online entertainment package — as exciting as, say, a giant robot fighting a ninja monster.

This is a place to pause and play — to grab a chuckle, master a quick brain tease or even offer up a possible moment of reflection.
