Kings win two of three on the road
Privateers and IcePak split; Maple Leafs hang on to first place
Of the five Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League games over the weekend, three needed overtime or a shootout to decide a winner.
At Goulds Arena, the Western Kings and St. John’s Maple Leafs split a pair of game, both of which went to the shootout. After Western took Saturday’s contest 4-3, St. John’s claimed a 5-4 win on Sunday morning.
The St. John’s Privateers and Central IcePak, meanwhile, split their two games at the Glacier in Mount Pearl. The Privateers needed overtime to collect a 4-3 win Saturday, but scored early and often in a 7-3 win over Central in Sunday morning’s rematch.
Central were 2-1 losers to Western in a Friday night contest at Lewisporte Stadium that started the Kings’ East coast road trip.
