Saturday, February 6 • Come cross-country skiing in Butter Pot Park. Join the Avalon Nordic Ski club. We have skis to rent for members and non-members on Saturday afternoons and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. See website www.avalonnord­ic.ca for more details. Ongoing and weather dependent; check website for updates. • Young Scientist at Manuels River Hibernia Interpreta­tion Centre on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m., kinetic and potential energy. Come and explore the world of kinetic and potential energy with us. Learn about the forces acting on us when we move and when we are at rest. Parents or guardians must attend with their children. The program is included with regular admission or with a membership. No pre-registrati­on is needed. • “Life on Ice” Kids Club program for February at The Suncor Energy Fluvarium Feb. 6-28 at 1:30 p.m. See how nature around The Fluvarium changes in the icy winter. Rediscover the water all around us and how that ice and snow actually helps to keep animals warm and safe. Note: there will be no Kids Club on Feb. 13 and 14 due to a family ice-fishing program. • St. Michael’s Men’s Associatio­n is having a Jigg’s dinner with pancakes ($18) and a mini bake sale at their parish hall on Kiwanis Street on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Takeouts available. Sunday, February 7 • The Whitbourne Open Mic Show will be held Feb. 7 at the Whitbourne Lions Club. The doors open at 1 p.m. and the music starts at 2 p.m. Join the other performers at the open mic or bring your instrument and play along or just tap your feet to that great old country beat. • Winter Family Fun Day takes place at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpreta­tion Centre on Sunday, Feb. 7 from 1-3 p.m. Join us outside for some winter fun. Come dressed for the weather. Parents or guardians must attend with their children. Included with admission or membership; no pre-registrati­on needed.

Monday, February 8 • Babies@Manuels at Manuels River Hibernia Interpreta­tion Centre on Monday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. Movie — “A Bug’s Life.” Join us every second Monday for a movie in our Theatre. The environmen­t is baby- and toddler-friendly with lower sound, changing tables, snacks provided and other understand­ing parents around as you watch the film. Included with the cost of admission (under age 5 is always free) or with a membership; no pre-registrati­on needed. • Business & Arts NL invites members of the media and public to the official launch of our third Come Play With Me public piano at Memorial University on Feb. 8 at the MUN Food Court (third floor UC) at 11:45 a.m. Come Play With Me NL provides a free opportunit­y for students, staff and visitors to express and share their musical talents with bystanders as they pass through the University Centre. Street pianos are part of a popular global movement, with over 1,300 pianos on public display worldwide.
