Basilica of St. John’s
Harvey Road Come experience a one-man play and escorted tour of the Basilica this summer. Every Tuesday through Saturday at noon, until Aug. 27, the Basilica Heritage Foundation will be presenting “Fleming.” Join historic Bishop Michael Anthony Fleming, interpreted by local actor, Paul Rowe, as he guides you through the Basilica. One of the most influential Newfoundlanders of his time, Bishop Fleming is brought to life as you witness his tireless efforts to construct the largest cathedral to date in the New World. As Bishop Fleming recounts the early days of the Basilica, you’ll learn about its social and cultural significance, and about the formative and often turbulent history of the young Colony of Newfoundland. All welcome. Admission $12 for tour and play; $10 for seniors and students. Cash only please.
LSPU Hall
Victoria Street Exploratory work by participants in the Jack Camp will have an indoor showing and open house at LSPU Hall on Friday, July 29 and then an outdoor showing, the following evening, July 30 as part of yearly festivities at Victoria Park. The outdoor show will be in collaboration with Newfoundland’s own musical improv troupe The Scruncheons. The Anna Templeton Centre presents a summer long exhibition Spirits Sheltered: The Characters Within at the new Park Pavilion in Salmonier Nature Park.
