GNL hosts Fam Tour

-

ST. JOHN’S — Newfoundland recently had the pleasure of being visited by Bruce Vittner, the Editor & Managing Director of the “New England Golfer. “For those who aren’t familiar with the “New England Golfer,” it is a newspaper, monthly online-magazine and online subscription service offering information on golfing in and around the New England area. Vittner and his wife, Carolyn, who is a travel writer, visited the province for the first time in June. During their stay in province, the two had the opportunity to travel across the province and visit a number of golf courses. Vittner kicked off his tour in St. John’s with a round of golf at Bally Haly Country Club in the morning and another round at Pippy Park Golf Course later that same day. Over the course of the eight-day trip, Vittner and his wife travelled to six different golf courses across the province, from Bally Haly in the east to Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville. Vittner got to meet and play with many of the locals along the way, including Darrell Denief, golf professional at The Wilds and Glenn Greening, director of golf at Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community. One of the many highlights of the trip was the opportunity to meet with Gary Oke and play the championship course at Humber Valley Resort. The two didn’t just visit the province in order to check out the golf scene, but also to take a look at some of the province’s tourist attractions. From visiting Signal Hill to the Tablelands and a boat tour to see whales and icebergs in Twillingate, the pair had the time to experience the vast beauty, diversity and cultures of the province. The New England Golfer will have a golf and travel feature published in the August edition of the newspaper and posted online beginning Aug. 3. GNL would like to thank the hosting golf courses, Parks Canada, the Tourism Division and Go Western Newfoundland (DMO) for their support and co-operation in hosting this FAM Tour.
