Intermediate league represented at national seniors
A number of players who have seen their share of action in the Molson St. John’s Intermediate Softball League this season are on the rosters of Newfoundland entries in the Canadian senior men’s fastpitch championship, beginning today at the Caribou Complex in St. John’s. Johnny Doyle, who leads all intermediate league pitchers with 96 strikeouts in 58-plus innings is on the WNC/The Bigs Bombers, as is his Bay Roberts intermediate teammate Peter Kavanagh; Paul Maher of league-leading Lafontaine Club; Ryan King, who has got into eight contests with Game On Gear; and Canadian national junior team player Mitch Stack, who has appeared in seven games with Rob Roy. On the Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs are Liam Myers, who has played eight games with the C.B.S. Storm, and Eddie Heffernan, who has suited up in 11 games with Placentia-based Lafontaine.
