nThe weekly crib game in support of the Knights of Columbus continues every Thursday in the basement of St. Teresa’s Church (wheelchair accessible) starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 each with a prize being awarded to the winner. The event is open to everyone. Please come and support our charitable efforts.

Taoist Tai Chi Society offers free lessons at the farmers market on the following dates from 9:30 – 11 a.m., Sept. 3 and Sept. 17.

The Whitbourne Open Mike Show is held on the first Sunday of each month and this month’s show will be held on Sept. 4 at the Whitbourne Lions Club. The doors open at 1 p.m. and the music starts at 2 p.m. Enjoy the remaining days of summer at the Whitbourne Open Mike Show. Join the other performers at the open mike or bring your instrument and play along or just tap your feet to that great old country beat.

Monday, Sept. 5, 11a.m.: Babies@Manuels Movie – “Ice Age: Continenta­l Drift” at The Manuels River Hibernia Interpreta­tion Centre – 7 Conception Bay Highway, C.B.S. Baby/ toddler-friendly movie every second Monday with lower sound, changing tables, snacks, & understand­ing parents. Included with admission (under age five free with adult) or membership. No preregistr­ation required.

The next meeting of the Newfoundla­nd Horticultu­ral Society will be held at St. David’s Church Hall, Elizabeth Ave. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m. This month’s presentati­on, by Gene Herzberg, on “Wild Orchids of Newfoundla­nd” is sure to enlighten and delight. Join us for the lecture, friendly garden chat and refreshmen­ts afterwards. The lecture is free and non-members are welcome. Library opens at 7:30.
