A Stephenville woman originally charged with two armed robberies in the St. John’s metro region is suspected of committing a third.

When Jessica Dawn Dunphy returned to provincial court in St. John’s Friday, lawyers informed the judge that another armed robbery charge has been laid against the 26-year-old.

Police say Dunphy and a St. John’s man, Robert Joseph Mahoney, 33, held up the Marie’s Mini Mart store on Brookfield Road on Sunday.

That’s a day after she and Mahoney were said to have forced their way into a home on Scammel Crescent in Mount Pearl and stolen medications from a woman, who was home at the time. They were said to have had a needle and a knife. Another man, Elliott Boyd Fry, 24, is also charged in connection with that holdup, as he reportedly waited outside in a car and left with Dunphy and Mahoney.

Dunphy also faces charges in connection with an armed robbery at the BMO bank in the Village Shopping Centre parking lot on Topsail Road on Sept. 13.

In that incident, Dunphy allegedly had a box cutter when she was reported to have robbed and assaulted a woman, an employee of Alia Tanjay store in the Village, who was attempting to drop deposit bags in the deposit drop box. There was a brief struggle before Dunphy reportedly managed to get a cash deposit bag and ran away. The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Dunphy faces several charges, including three counts of armed robbery and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, along with a single count of assault with a weapon.

Mahoney had a bail hearing Friday, but was denied bail by Judge Mike Madden.

Dunphy, Mahoney and Fry are all due back in court Oct. 12.
