LUTHERVILLE, Md. — Authorities say police shot and killed a man Friday while investigating a bank robbery in suburban Baltimore and that a second man was injured. Baltimore County Police Cpl. John Wachter says the man who died was the driver of a car that police had stopped while searching for robbery suspects. He was taken to a hospital, but didn’t survive the shooting near Lutherville, about 10 miles north of downtown Baltimore. Both men were black, Wachter said. The passenger was taken into custody. County police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said in a tweet that the injuries were not life-threatening to the passenger, who was wanted for multiple bank robberies. She did not say how he was hurt. Armacost tweeted that the men had earlier robbed a bank about four miles away in Pikesville. ``At 13:08, officers responded to Wells Fargo Bank for a report of a bank robbery,’’ Wachter told reporters at the scene. ``A patrol sergeant had stopped traffic at an intersection behind you. That patrol sergeant encountered a vehicle in that line of vehicles. At some point, the sergeant fired multiple times.’’ After the shooting, the car the men were riding in struck another car. Officers at the scene were interviewing the drivers of two cars.
