‘Swan Lake’ to tour island this spring
Canada’s Ballet Jörgen will bring the classic “Swan Lake” to Newfoundland this spring, with stops in St. John’s, Grand Falls-Windsor, Corner Brook and Stephenville. The ballet company has put a twist on the classic tale of love and sacrifice, resetting it in the Fortress of Louisbourg, N.S. Tchaikovsky’s famous score will remain, and 30 performers will dance to it in lavish 17th-century-inspired costumes. The Newfoundland dates will be the last stops on Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s 25-city tour of Canada and the U.S. The ballet will come to the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre April 12, the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre April 15, the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts April 18 and the Stephenville Arts and Culture Centre April 20. Tickets are available at the box offices and online at www.artsandculturecentre.com .
