Hospitality NL announces awards

The annual Tourism Excellence Awards were presented at a gala-closing dinner at the Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL) conference in Gander Thursday night.

The winners were:

• H. Clayton Sparkes Accommodator Award of Excellence: Murray Premises Hotel, St. John’s;

• Tourism Champion Award: Cathy Lomond, Hotel Port aux Basques, Port aux Basques;

• CBDC Tourism Business Award of Excellence: O’Brien’s Whale & Bird Tours, Bay Bulls; • Cal LeGrow Tourism Innovator Award: Cod Sounds, St. John’s;

• Tourism Corporate Partner Award: Marine Atlantic Inc.;

• Cultural Tourism Award: The Rooms;

• Sustainable Tourism Award: Mistaken Point Cape Race Heritage Inc., Trepassey;

• Doug Wheeler Award: Rick Stanley, Ocean Quest Adventures, C.B.S.;

• Cruise Vision Award: Ashley Dicker, community volunteer in Nain.

The HNL conference and trade show ran from Tuesday to Thursday this week.
