Compelling questions ... and maybe a few actual answers
Can we make Junior a Bubble Boy?
NASCAR’s suits in the corner offices have probably mulled this possibility in recent weeks, but unfortunately the tight cockpit just doesn’t offer additional room for the bubble. They would if they could, however, because Junior Earnhardt has said he’ll wait a couple of months before sitting down and discussing a contract extension with team owner Rick Hendrick. Junior wants to “get some races under my belt” before committing.
What else would he do?
Short answer: Whatever he wants. He could expand JR Motorsports and be a big-league owner, which would be nice for NASCAR since several current longtime owners aren’t exactly getting any younger. He’d obviously be welcome in a broadcast booth if that’s his wish. Assuming he’s invested well, he won’t return to his servicedepartment roots at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet.
