Grand Falls-windsor to host nation’s top chefs

Culinary Festival added to summer attraction

“Spring may not be in the air, but the smell of food is in the air this morning,” joked Grand Falls-windsor Mayor Barry Manuel in announcing the town’s latest addition to its event schedule.

The Town of Grand Fallswinds­or, in partnershi­p with Grand Toyota and the Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Culinary Team lead chef (and Chopped Chef Canada winner) Roary Macpherson, will host the largest food-day festival of its kind in Newfoundla­nd and Labrador at the Joe Byrne Stadium on Aug. 5.

“The Grand Toyota Perfectly Centred Culinary Festival will see some of the top chefs in Canada, including John Higgins and Anne Yarymowich of Food Network and our own Roger Andrews and Jeremy Charles,” stated a town webpage dedicated to the event.

“Saturday (Food Day Canada celebratio­ns) will be hosted by a selection of Canada’s top chefs and 11 of NL’S top chefs for a food experience featuring locally sourced food from the land and water,” according to the post. ”The event will feature nine separate culinary stations as well as some entertainm­ent.”

A limited number of tickets will be available to purchase through Eventbrite as well as at the town hall.
