‘12 Angry Men’ wins big at Newfoundland and Labrador drama festival
The 2017 provincial drama festival wrapped up a successful run at the Gander Arts and Culture Centre Saturday.
After a week of performances, it was School Zone Productions of St. John’s that was the big winner at the festival
Here is a full list of winners:
• NL Government Drama Festival Award for the best presentation of a full-length play: “12 Angry Men,” School Zone Productions.
• Newfoundland Herald Audience Appreciation Award: “12 Angry Men,” School Zone Productions.
• Neala F. Griffin Trophy for best direction: Fabian O’keefe, School Zone Productions.
• Chrissi Andrews Memorial Award for the best performance by a woman: Michele Dove, Avion Players.
• Honorary Chairman’s
Award for the best performance by a man: Jim Healey, St. John’s Players.
• Reg Harte Memorial Award for the best supporting performance by an actor: Gord Ralph, School Zone Productions.
• Sarah Mcdonald for the best supporting performance by an actress: Toshon Dawe, Off-broadway Players.
• Thompson Trophy for the best actress or actor under the age of 21: Jamie Felsberg, Mokami Players.
• Harvey Rose Bowl for the best visual presentation: Northern Lights Theatre Company.
• Stage Managers Award: Jennifer Stanley, Avion Players.
• Margaret Doyle Trophy for depicting the true spirit of the festival: Greg and Ann Marie Blumer.
• Allan R. Hillier Award for costume that most enhances interpretation of overall production: Brenda Chaytor, Avion Players.
• Elizabeth F. Ireland Award
for the acquisition of the most effective and/or innovative properties: Jeannie Collins, Avion Players.
• Hans Tode Memorial Trophy for innovative and imaginative set design: Nick Mercer and Claude House, Avion Players.
• Allan Power Memorial Award for excellence in lighting design: Marty Byrne, Northern Lights Theatre Company.
• OZ-FM Award for imagination and excellence in sound:
Lester Simmons, Northern Lights Theatre Company.
• DA Matthews Scholarship: Sarah Connors, Off-broadway Players.
• Walter C. Chambers Scholarship: Simon Alteen, School Zone Productions.
