Have you seen this guy?

He’s not really a naked alien

You may have had a tire-screeching double-take moment if you drove along the highway on the Burin Peninsula this weekend.

An alien — a life-sized, pale, naked extra-terrestrial — has been walking in the area, earning stares and “WTF” snaps on Facebook, before people learn it’s really Australian photographer Jonathan May in costume for a project.

May is an award-winning photographer based in Sydney, who’s actually working on two projects while in the province: photography capturing fog (May told The Overcast he actually found Newfoundland and booked a flight here after doing a Google search for the world’s foggiest place), and a short film about an alien named Trevor who lands here.

May’s been posting some of his haunting photos on Instagram.

“It’s a strange place I’ve landed in,” he wrote Saturday.

May has been in the province for about a week, and will end his stay by shooting some footage in St. John’s before heading home to Australia.

?? ?? Facebook user Carolin Hayse posted this photo publicly Saturday. “Anyone else see this on the road from Marystown just before dark yesterday?” she asked. She was one of a number of people intrigued by a lone alien walking on the side of the highway.
