Police officer struck by vehicle during arrest
ST. JOHN’S — A police officer was struck by a vehicle and received minor injuries while arresting a young man Friday afternoon.
The RNC had responded to a call of suspicious activity in the area at 2:40 p.m.
One of the responding officers on scene was struck with the after the driver attempted to flee. The officers managed to arrest a 21-year-old and charged him with assault with a weapon, possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited and breaches of a court order. The vehicle was impounded.
The man was held to make a court appearance Saturday morning. The police report did not note where the incident happened.
