The Wilds to Host 2017 Royal Lepage Amateur Championships
Golf Newfoundland Labrador (Golf NL), its title sponsor Royal Lepage and supporting partners Adidas, Browning Harvey, Jackson-triggs, Molson, Old Dutch, Taylormade and Wedgwood Insurance are pleased to have the opportunity to host this year’s Provincial Amateur Championships at The Wilds Golf Resort from July 16-19.
A total of 100 players including 18 females from across the province will converge at the Resort in Salmonier for the first time to challenge the championship course and crown provincial champions in eight categories and select the teams that will represent the province at the Atlantic and/or Nationals amateur competitions that will take place at various locations across the country throughout the remainder of the summer
This year’s schedule will include a practice round between July 10-14 or on Sunday July 16. Player registration will take place later in the afternoon, with a player meeting and social that evening. The day will include a ladies short game clinic hosted by PGA member Darrell Denief on the driving range.
The tournament will be comprised of three days of strokeplay competition and include an “Old Dutch Skills Challenge” at the conclusion of the first day of competition. A players’ social will take place after the second day with a number of awards and draw prizes. Through the sponsorship of Wedgwood Insurance, a hole-in-one contest will be held throughout the three days of competition with competitors having the opportunity to win a cash prize.
Divisional competition will be recorded over the three days of competition and net awards will be presented as part of the overall awards program. The provincial championship trophy presentations, divisional winners and announcement of provincial teams will be held on Wednesday July 19 in the banquet room at the Resort.
