Enough is enough

I wish to comment on the lengthy article in the July 29th Telegram, “Fall trial date set for birth certificate case.” It seems our politicians, as usual, are too cowardly and our media too cowed to stand up to the accumulating ball of rolling nonsense being rolled over our society by self-appointed and anointed social justice warriors.

The Telegram article featured one of these who wants the courts to force the office of Vital Statistics to offer a box for “non-binary” persons in addition to the male or female selection for babies born. The word non-binary sounds as if it applies to a computer or a machine as in your computer needs a non-binary upload. If there is to be such a change then it should be restricted to a fully self-consenting adult who clearly knows the nature of this request. Said adult should be at least 25 years of age the age when science confirms the human brain is fully formed and in control of all its faculties. Science also confirms a human is born either male or female — pick one. Hermaphrodites are assigned a gender by medical science. Anything else is a social construct to appease those same social justice warriors.

Surely it is not necessary to point out the real harm to our society if we are not able to discern how many males are being born and how many females are being born. I also think of the real psychological harm that could be done to children by perhaps well-meaning but foolish parents who refuse to identify a male child as a boy or a female child as a girl. Their unfortunate children will quickly discover that society in general is not forgiving of deviations from normality.

It is to be hoped the courts will show the common sense and fortitude so seriously lacking in our politicians and media and roundly reject this non binary application.
