Bally Haly golfer tops Tely Tour field at Clovelly
Gavin Connors wins junior division; yet another juvenile title for Alex Dolomount
Gavin Connors of Bally Haly Country Club had two birdies on his way to a two-over-par 74 for the day’s best score on Tuesday in the 2017 Tely Junior Tour’s Gatorade Junior Masters held at the Clovelly course in St. John’s.
Canada Games Team member Evan D’angelo of Bally Haly carded a 79 to take second place, while Dylan Yee of Clovelly rounded out the top three, recording an 80.
Yee had topped the junior division in the three previous Tely Tour events.
In the juvenile, Alex Dolomount of Clovelly won his fourth consecutive Tely Tour divisional title (he was co-winner in one event) with a score of 82 Tuesday. That gave Dolomount a three-stroke win over Ethan Efford of Bally Haly.
Nathan Nanayakkara, yet another Bally Haly golfer, was third among juveniles with a score of 87.
In the bantam boys division, played over nine holes, Jack Pelley-machardy of Grand Falls Golf Club carded a 49 to win by seven strokes over Evan Snow of Gander Golf Club and Jack Boone of Grand Falls. Snow was awarded second place through the retrogression process.
The final event on the 2017 Tely Tour will be held on Monday on the Twin Rivers Course at Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community with the Tour Championship.
The results of the Tour Championship, along with Order of Merit points already earned in 2017, will determine the season’s overall winners.
