Site preparations to begin at Kiewit’s Marystown yard in November

Meanwhile, site preparations should get underway at the facility in November, he said.
Husky Energy confirmed this month Kiewit had been awarded the contract to build the accommodations module for the concrete gravity structure that will be used at the West White Rose oil field.
Farrell said there are roughly 260 workers on the union’s seniority list right now and hopefully everyone will have the opportunity for employment on the project.
“It’s a smaller-scale job. It certainly won’t be up to the employment levels of the Hebron DSM (drilling support module),” he said.
Farrell was referring the last construction project completed at the facility, which wrapped up in December 2015. Employment on that job peaked at roughly 1,300 workers.
Farrell said the accommodations module will feature 128 rooms and take between 18-24 months to complete.
The work will start slow, he said, adding the union hopes to see about 300 people employed on the project.
