Life could change for the person who is lucky enough to win the Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador Cabin Lottery’s grand prize of a $500,000 dream home.

It could be a life-changing moment for a lot of people today.

Life could change for the person who is lucky enough to win the Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador Cabin Lottery’s grand prize of a $500,000 dream home.

Life could also change for the countless disabled youth in the province who will benefit from the funds raised through the draw, which closes ticket sales at midnight Friday.

“We still have tickets available and we hope for a flurry of sales to wrap this up today,” Trevor Hickey, executive director of the Husky Energy Easter Seals House said Thursday.

“This is the last chance for people to get tickets, but also be part of helping out the children,’’ he added.

Running an organization like Easter Seals House is not an inexpensive proposition. Despite the funds donated from corporate sponsors, such as the house’s namesake Husky Energy, the operation relies on a host of funding sources, including this lottery.

It costs more than a million dollars annually to provide services and programs and in today’s economic climate, costs are rising.

“This is such a great cause. It helps children with disabilities reach their full potential in this province,’’ Hickey said.

“This is such an awesome prize, a cabin at The Wilds on the Salmonier River. But at the end of the day, everyone wins. If you buy a ticket, everyone at Easter Seals wins because everyone in the program wins.”

In addition to the grand prize of a 3,000-square-foot luxury cabin, the lottery features a chance to win one of three trucks, a huge 50/50 prize, a quad and 100 gift cards.

Hickey said there is a maximum of 50,000 tickets available for the draw and he would like to see all of those sold by midnight tonight.

Anyone wishing to purchase tickets can call Easter Seals House at 709-754-1399 or order online at www.cabinlottery.ca.
