Boat catches fire on Conception Bay, two people rescued Saturday night
Two people were rescued after their boat caught fire on Conception Bay Saturday evening.
One witness onshore told The Telegram that burning boat appeared to be a cabin cruiser or a small yacht that was on fire. When The Telegram arrived on scene, flames could still be seen shooting from the vessel that was several kilometres offshore near Kelly’s Island. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax confirmed that the two people aboard had been rescued. As of 8:30 p.m., the boat appeared was westward, away from Conception Bay South, and was still engulfed in flames.
Facebook posts from friends said that neither of the people who were rescued were hurt.
