More charges for man arrested in connection with break-in, home invasion
When he makes his scheduled appearance in provincial court in St. John’s Wednesday morning, Richard Driscoll will be handed another six charges related to a break-in and a home invasion at two residences in St. John’s last week. Driscoll, 34, was arrested alongside Angela Manning, 31, early Friday morning in connection with a break-in at a home in Airport Heights Tuesday during which firearms were stolen, and a subsequent home invasion on Campbell Avenue.
Both Driscoll and Manning were charged with break and entry and unlawful possession of a firearm. Manning was additionally charged with robbery with violence and break and entry for the home invasion. Driscoll was additionally charged with two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited — a rifle in one count and a shotgun in the other — in connection with the break-in, as well as two unrelated charges of criminal harassment for allegedly harassing and threatening two family members.
Police laid six new charges against Driscoll late Tuesday in relation to the home invasion: robbery with violence, break and entry, using a firearm while committing an offence, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and two counts of possessing a firearm while under a court order not to.
Police were called to a breakin at an Airport Heights home Tuesday, but no arrests were made. Thursday afternoon, they responded to a report of a home invasion on Campbell Avenue, where three armed people had allegedly entered the home and tried to rob a man inside.
Two people suffered minor injuries in the incident.
