Bail hearings have been set for Thursday for two Deer Lake men charged in an alleged home invasion and robbery in Reidville over the weekend.

Ricky Halfyard, 29, and Tanner Healey, 23, were arrested Monday after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed a search warrant at a home in Deer Lake.

The invasion is alleged to have occurred Sunday night.

According to an RCMP news release Tuesday afternoon police responded to reports of a home invasion and robbing involving firearms at a Reidville home at 10:30 p.m.

The search warrant was executed later with the assistance of police services dog Axel. During the search police seized weapons they say were used in the alleged crime, along with drugs and other offence-related property.

The RCMP does not believe the incident was a random act or that public safety is an issue at this time.

Bail hearings for both men were set during separate appearances in provincial court in Corner Brook on Tuesday morning.

Halfyard is charged with six offences including breaking and entering with intent, using a firearm during the commission of an offence, being disguised with intent, use of a firearm in committing robbery, forcible confinement and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Healey is facing seven charges including breaking and entering with intent, using a firearm during the commission of an offence, two counts of pointing a firearm, disguised with intent, use of a firearm in committing robbery and forcible confinement.

According to information sworn before the court Halfyard is alleged to have used a long gun and a shotgun and Healey a handgun and shotgun in the breakin.

There are three victims, a man and two women, listed in the information with both Halfyard and Healey alleged to have stolen money from the man and unlawfully confined the two women. Healey is said to have pointed a handgun at the two women.
