2017 Musicnl Week has begun … and we’ve got your guide to the nominees and the best events

2017 Musicnl Week has officially started in St. John’s and it’s a big one, with the province’s music industry association celebrating its 25 years in style.

Planning hasn’t come without its hiccups — including a fire last week at the newly renovated Majestic Theatre, where a number of Musicnl Weeks events had been scheduled — but the stages are set to showcase some of the best the province’s music scene has to offer.

Alongside a number of delegate-only showcases, workshops, panels and other events (including the attendance of 25 export buyers from around North America and the U.K., brought in by Musicnl as part of a new export development program to work with local artists), there’s a veritable plethora of public events, from trad music to heavy metal. Of course, Musicnl Week will wrap up with the annual awards gala, hosted this year by Alan Doyle at the St. John’s Convention Centre. Want to know who’s nominated?
