Jumping with heart
Students at Topsail Elementary School jump rope Wednesday afternoon as part of the official launch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Jump Rope for Heart program for the 2017-2018 school year. The students — Ella Wareham, Nyah Smith, Ava Murphy, Quinn Marshall, Kameron Delacey and Carter Penney — were among hundreds who gathered at the gym to participate in the event with foundation representatives. In its 35th year, the program — sponsored by NL Hydro — focuses on teaching children about heart health by encouraging them to eat healthy and participate in daily physical activity, like skipping rope. Topsail Elementary was the top fundraiser of last year’s Jump Rope for Heart program.
