North Atlantic gas station, Tim’s drive-thru coming to airport

Passengers arriving and departing from St. John’s International Airport will see a new retail service on the airport’s borders early next year.

Construction of a North Atlantic gas bar is already underway on a plot of land adjacent to the cellphone waiting lot and opposite the Holiday Inn Express. The new development will include an Orangestore, a Tim Hortons drive-thru and a yet-to-be- named quick-service restaurant.

“We are delighted to welcome North Atlantic to our airport community, and to enhance the service offerings available at our airport,” airport authority president and CEO Keith Collins stated in a news release.

“North Atlantic represents a strong, award-winning local brand with a track record for growth.”

It’s the latest in a long list of developments on airport property in recent years, including Cougar Helicopters’ new passenger terminal facility, a Holiday Inn Express hotel and a service centre for Avis/budget rental cars.

Currently under construction are Cargojet’s new cross-dock facility, a Best Western Plus hotel and a new jet fuel farm tank being built by a consortium of airlines.
