Jason O’grady, a.k.a DJJO started his career like many DJ’S in the city, by playing on George Street.

After five years of building a fan base around the province, he decided it was time to make a move.

“I decided I wanted to start new and move to Halifax,” said O’grady.

That’s when he started spending some time with the members of Neon Dreams.

“I have toured with the guys once before, so we knew each other,” he said. “But once I started playing with them on a regular basis we realized we worked well together.”

They’ve been hard at work ever since.

“We’ve pretty much been on tour since March,” laughed O’grady. “I love going on tour

with the guys, I’ve learned so much about producing, dealing with labels and even songwriting.”

On their new EP “Wolf, Princess

& Me” O’grady co-wrote two songs.

The band even got the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister over the summer when After cutting his performance teeth as a DJ, Jason O’grady of Carbonear now tours and performs with the band Neon Dreams.

Justin Trudeau added the song “Confessions” which features Neon Dreams, to his summer playlist which he released on social media.

Just a couple of weeks ago Neon Dreams was nominated for an award through Music Nova Scotia, for Entertainer of the Year.

“We’re all from the East Coast,” he said. “I find anything that comes from the East Coast the entire coast supports it.”

In 2018, Neon Dreams will be on tour with Hedley for 32 dates.

“This is huge for us,” said O’grady. “Hedley is pretty much the epitome of Canadian rock/pop.”

Before he started Djing, O’grady was in school taking architectural science but he says he doesn’t think he will ever pursue that path.

“If I were ever to go back to school now, I would do something like music production, or music business,” he said. “Regardless of where my life takes me my focus will always be music.”
