David Snow expected to plead guilty to 20 child sex related charges

His father, Chris Snow, was convicted on similar charges in N.L. Supreme Court last month

Two weeks after his father was found guilty in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court of child sex offences, David Snow appeared by video in the same St. John’s courthouse, charged with similar crimes.

Snow, 36, is facing 20 charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, exposing private parts of his body to a child under 16, observing a person for a sexual purpose, making child pornography and possessing child pornography.

The offences are alleged to have happened between November 2011 and February 2015.

Snow is in custody in Bishop’s Falls, having been arrested in New Brunswick in September 2016 and brought home to face a judge.

Snow’s lawyer, Shelley Senior, told Justice William Goodridge on Wednesday her client wouldn’t be entering pleas at that moment.

“I’m trying to work it out with the Crown. I’m not expecting this to go to trial,” she said, indicating Snow will likely plead guilty.

Goodridge set the case over until Jan. 15.

Snow’s father is Chris Snow, known in St. John’s for driving a “Christmas truck” decorated with boughs and coloured lights and blaring music. Goodridge convicted the elder Snow on 12 charges last month, saying it was one of the worst child sexual abuse cases he had ever heard as a judge. Chris Snow, 68, repeatedly assaulted five children — boys and girls — in the 1960s and ’70s. His crimes ranged from fondling to anal intercourse. His youngest victim was six.

Chris Snow, who was taken into custody when he was convicted, is due to be sentenced Dec. 13.
