Man dead in highway accident
Police investigating two-vehicle accident near Makinsons Saturday
One man is dead after a deadly highway collision at the overpass of the Hodgewater Line exit, near Makinsons in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Whitbourne RCMP responded to the report of a vehicle travelling westbound in the eastbound lane on the Trans-canada Highway just before 1 a.m.
While en route to the vehicle, officers were notified of a twovehicle collision at the overpass of the Hodgewater Line exit, near Makinsons.
The vehicle that had been travelling westbound in the eastbound lane had collided with a second vehicle.
The 32-year-old man driving of one of the vehicles, an SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two female passengers in the SUV received non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and were brought to hospital.
The driver, and lone occupant of the second vehicle, received minor injuries and was also transported to hospital.
The accident and investigation were responsible for both lanes of the highway being closed until about 6 a.m.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
