Daryl Genge named president and CEO of Springboar­d Atlantic

A former provincial government official has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Springboar­d Atlantic.

Daryl Genge will take on the position as of Dec. 1, replacing the outgoing Chris Mathis, who had been in the role since 2011.

Prior to his hiring, Genge worked as both the assistant deputy minister and acting deputy minister in the former provincial department of business, tourism, culture and rural developmen­t. Prior to his time in government, Genge was the founding director of Memorial University’s Atlantic Canada Venture Gateway and sat on committees and boards, including the two advisory boards for venture capital funds.

“Daryl is a strong leader, and his understand­ing of academia, industry and the public sector will be a significan­t asset to Springboar­d going forward,” board chair Brian Lowe stated in a news release. Springboar­d is a commercial­ization and industry liaison network that connects skilled profession­als in academia with industry contacts to establish new collaborat­ions and support research commercial­ization.
