Someone has information: police

RCMP investigation continues as anniversary of St. Anthony woman’s disappearance nears

-

It will be one year ago this Thursday since 39-year-old Jennifer Hillier-penney of St. Anthony went missing.

The RCMP and Hillier-penney’s family are renewing a request to the public to provide any tips or information that could help the investigation.

“We believe there are members of the public who have information about Jennifer’s disappearance who, for whatever reason, have not come forward,” said Insp. Bruce Singer of the RCMP’S major crime unit.

“Even a small, seemingly insignificant piece of information could be what our investigators need to find answers for Jennifer’s family.”

Hillier-penney was known to many across the Great Northern Peninsula. She was a wife and mother, a sister and daughter to a close-knit family from St. Lunaire-griquet and worked full-time for Labrador-grenfell Health.

She was reported missing to the St. Anthony RCMP on Dec. 1, 2016 and had last been seen at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2016.

The circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, police say, and the investigation is active and ongoing.

According to an RCMP news release on Monday, officers have worked relentlessly on the case, interviewing more than 100 people.

Extensive searches of the land and ocean using aircraft, boats and police dogs have been conducted.

“Our officers have received a great deal of support from the people of St. Anthony and surrounding area,” said Singer.

“We know family, friends Jennifer Hillier-penney

and neighbours want to help us shed light on what happened to Jennifer, and encourage anyone with information to bring it to police.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact the RCMP’S major crime unit at 709-637-4420. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers.

“Even a small, seemingly insignificant piece of information could be what our investigators need to find answers for Jennifer’s family.”
