NSO Masterwork­s 3: Generation­s Newfoundla­nd Symphony Orchestra performs at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre. The NSO will present Macdonald’s The Great Rock in the Sea and will share the stage with the Newfoundla­nd Symphony Youth Orchestra for a side-by-side performanc­e of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 (6th m). “The Gravel Pit Kids” Book Signing Geraldine Ryan-lush will sign copies of her young adult novel, “The Gravel Pit Kids” until 3 p.m. at Coles Bookstore in the Avalon Mall. Published by Black Rose Writing,

this novel of friendship between two preteen boys in a small Newfoundla­nd town has received the Readers’ Favourite 5-Star Award, and is an Editors’ Pick in Atlantic Books Today.

8th Annual Cancer Ribbon Fundraiser

Artists at Trouble Bound Tattoos will spend the entire day tattooing cancer ribbons for $100 plus tax each, with all proceeds going to Daffodil Place. Proceeds from T-shirt and art print sales will also be donated.

Frosty’s Big Birthday Party There will be lots of fun things to see and do at the Glacier Arena, including Sky High Amusements, Newfoundla­nd Reptiles, touch tanks, a magic show, face painting, prize draws, birthday cake and Terry Rielly’s Teddy Bear Picnic (12:30 p.m. show time). Admission is free.

Youth Art and Mural Workshop Day one of the workshop, a part of Snow & Ice in Paradise. Youth ages seven to 18 years old are invited (10 a.m.-12 p.m. for ages seven to 12; 1-4 p.m. for ages 12 to 18). Learn about mural painting and paint a mural in the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
