A solo exhibit by prolific artist Louise Sutton at The Leyton Gallery of Fine Art. A selection of works in oil, acrylic and mixed media, Louise drifts seamlessly between the worlds of representa­tion and abstractio­n with a vibrant energy. Exhibit runs until Feb. 24.

Little Explorers

Come to Manuels River for an engaging and interactiv­e hour of stories, songs, activities, and play, as we learn about the world around us. $7 per child or free with membership (caregivers free). No pre-registrati­on required. This program is designed for children two to four years old and their caregivers.

11 a.m.

Active Start Playgroup Parents and caregivers can get active with the little ones at Paul Reynolds Community Centre. Recreation staff on site to develop physical literacy through active play. $3 per child between ages two and five. Under age two is free.

3:30 p.m.

Afterschoo­l Movie

Join us at Manuels River for a movie in our comfortabl­e theatre. Showing “School of Rock.” We’ll provide the popcorn! Screening is $5 per person or free for members. No pre-registrati­on required. Children under 11 years old must attend with a parent or guardian.

Join Dr. Shannon Lewis-simpson at The Rooms and discover intimate aspects of love and marriage in medieval Scandinavi­a as seen in the archaeolog­ical and poetic evidence. Part of the Frosty Festival, a night of musical theatre at the Reid Centre with Spirit of Newfoundla­nd. Starring Dana Parsons, Janet Cull, Keith Power and Andrew Williams. Join Art Gallery Registrar Chris Batten, who will show and share photograph­s from the different art gallery collection­s housed inside The Rooms vaults. Then, take a look at the exhibition Photograph­y in Canada: 1960-2000, on tour from the National Gallery of Canada. Included with the cost of general admission.

Our province has an active and diverse self-publishing scene. As part of the Love Our Local Authors month, chat with local self-published authors at A.C. Hunter Public Library. Event will also include author readings and books for purchase.

Snowshoe Hike
