Paradise mining company competing for $1M investment

Paradise-based company Acoustic Zoom Inc. is one of four finalists in the Goldcorp Inc. #Disruptmining 2018, an innovation accelerator designed to encourage new technologies and ideas to solve some of the biggest challenges in mining.

In a Dragon’s Den style competition, Acoustic Zoom will pitch their concept to a panel of five judges.

The winning team earns the right to negotiation with Goldcorp for up a $1-million investment for a proof of concept at one of Goldcorp’s mines or direct investment in the winning technologies. “Our goal was to uncover the next revolutionary concept that will truly disrupt our industry,” Goldcorp COO Todd White stated in a news release. “The four finalists represent the innovative thinking and collaboration our industry needs to ensure mining stays relevant and does its job to fuel the 21stcentury economy efficiently and responsibly.” Acoustic Zoom, a semifinalist in 2017, uses highfrequency 3-D imaging to help map complex geological formations deep within the Earth’s micro-structure. The method is intended to help exploration teams drill smarter, guide planning and achieve investment value quicker with more actionable and accurate information. The pitch takes place Sunday, March 4 at the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto during the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference.
