Paradise company wins big at #Drisruptmining 2018
A Paradise-based company’s ultra high-frequency 3-D drill hole seismic imaging technology earned it top marks at #Disruptmining 2018 this past weekend in Toronto.
As a result, Acoustic Zoom will have the opportunity to negotiate a contract or investment of up to $1 million with Goldcorp.
“Our vision is to give confidence to investors by augmenting the value of drill results using our innovative acoustic technology,” Jacques Guigné, Acoustic Zoom’s CEO and chief scientist, stated in a news release.
“Our technology maps deep within the Earth’s microstructure, helping exploration teams drill smarter, guide planning and achieve investment value quickly. We are thrilled that Goldcorp and the judging panel of industry titans sees this value and champions our vision.”
The competition is an innovation accelerator meant to encourage new technologies and ideas to help capitalize on opportunities and solve challenges in the mining industry.
This year’s event included entries from over 150 companies around the world.
After being a semi-finalist at last year’s event,
Acoustic Zoom perfected its technology during the past year to provide unprecedented resolution of subsurface geological structures, while reducing survey costs by up to 90 per cent. “Technologies like the one presented by Acoustic Zoom will get us to our vision of being a technology company — and a mining company — faster,” Goldcorp chief operating officer Todd White stated.
