‘Come From Away’ praised from away

-

The “Thoughts on ‘Come From Away’ on its first anniversary” article by Reg Sherren is quite wonderful.

I am a Newfoundland writer and artist and have lived in NYC for quite a while. I was here on 9-11 and Sherren is right about the smoldering wreckage.

Smoke lingered over the city for over a week. I had to keep my windows closed for days.

I’ve written about that time and the sirens and smells and the eerie silence at times and the sense of despair and confusion.

My neighbours made a large flag with flowers and hung it from their fire escape railing. Photo enclosed.

I saw “Come From Away” a few weeks ago, finally! The theatre was packed to the rafters, the cast received an extensive standing ovation and I understand now why people see the show multiple times.

I will, too.

To be a Newfoundlander, and to see the show in New York City, and to be intimately connected to both the Rock and Manhattan, is an awesome, profound experience.

Thank you for Mr. Sherren’s article. Very best regards,
