She’s only 3 1/2 pounds, but Lotus — a tiny Teacup Yorkie from Paradise — is making big news on social media these past few days.

Lotus has been missing since Saturday and her owner is so desperate to find her, she’s offering a $1,000 reward.

“Everyone is doing so much to help me, I can’t believe it,” Jody Mcgrath said in a message to The Telegram today.

“A total stranger offered $500 for a reward. Then my friends said they would match that. I’m speechless over the help.”

The 17-month-old pooch escaped from Mcgrath’s garden on Lanark Drive in Paradise on Saturday and neighbours, friends and family have been searching since then.

When word spread that Lotus was missing, Facebook posts about her have been shared thousands of times.

According to the Facebook posts, Lotus is not wearing a collar, is microchipped and spayed.

She recently had surgery on her back leg and holds up her back leg slightly when walking.

“She’s is a little nervous, and as you can imagine, and will be quite nervous (after spending so long away from home),” Mcgrath wrote.

Anyone who has seen Lotus or can help find her is asked to call Mcgrath at 338-2001, 725-1219 or 709-691-0358. Information can also be left on the Facebook groups Help Find Lotus or The Snowdogs of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mcgrath recommends not approaching Lotus if spotted. Instead, take a photo of her, contact the owner immediately and keep an eye on her until someone can retrieve her.

“Everyone please help so that Lotus can be brought back home safe and sound,” Mcgrath said.
