For openers, Jays have had a variety of starters

When J.A. Happ takes to the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays next Thursday against the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre, he will be the fifth different opening-day starter for the Blue Jays in as many years.

Happ was officially given the assignment by Toronto manager John Gibbons on Tuesday.

The other recent first-day starters for the Blue Jays were Marco Estrada (2017), Marcus Stroman (2016), Drew Hutchison (2015) and R.A, Dickey (2014), who had also done so in 2013.
