Wessex Society
Sir Robert Bond was Newfoundland’s prime minister from 1900 to 1908. Among his legacies were the Grand Falls pulp and paper mill and persuading the British government to end French fishing rights along the so-called French Shore. Many argue that he was Newfoundland’s greatest prime minister. But was he? James Hiller, professor emeritus of history at Memorial University and widely recognized as one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s eminent historians, will answer the question at the Wessex Newfoundland Society. The society meets at Hampton Hall at 8 p.m. All are welcome, and admission is free.
