The Friends of the St. John’s Public Libraries is holding a large book sale in support of library programs and collection­s. The sale will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the A.C. Hunter Library’s community room. Cash only.

Vendors Market for Ronald Mcdonald House

Come shop and take a stroll through our vendors market at Spruce Hills Community Church, 1496 Topsail Rd., and support the programs and services at Ronald Mcdonald House Charities Newfoundla­nd and Labrador. You will find special gifts, handmade crafts, art, skincare and makeup, and natural products. Approximat­ely 20 vendors will sell their products and merchandis­e. Coffee and tea will be available on site. There will also be a face-painting station. Admission is by donation to Ronald Mcdonald House. This year The Fluvarium has partnered with the Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Environmen­t Network to host the annual Earth Day Fair, a family-friendly event with free admission. Cash donations will be accepted and split between the food bank and The Fluvarium. Non-perishable food donations also accepted. Looking to go for a walk, but find it too cold or slippery? We have an amazing walking group at Cowan Heights United Church. Join us in the auditorium Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission is $1.

Active Start Playgroup

Caregivers get active with the little ones up to age five at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre’s active playgroup. Recreation staff will be on site to develop fundamenta­l movement skills and physical literacy through active play. Cost is $3 per child aged two to five. Children under age two can participat­e free of charge.

Art Ongoing Artssmarts deadline

Artsnl is accepting online applicatio­ns from schools, school boards or groups of schools to operate Artssmarts projects. Artssmarts provides funding to schools to bring profession­al artists into the classroom to help teachers and students integrate arts activities into non-arts subject areas. “Pause” features watercolou­rs and mixed media drawings by Tia Connolly, Bonnie Leyton, Virginia Mitford and April White. All of the works invite viewers to take a moment to pause and consider an overlooked moment or experience. This exhibition will be at The Leyton Gallery of Fine Art until May 6.
