Boychoir announces busy year
Representatives from the Atlantic Boychoir held a media event at the Sheraton Newfoundland hotel on Cavendish Square in downtown St. John’s on Thursday morning to announce details of and launch their third performance season. Featured will be three special concerts, two international tours and an upcoming Christmas CD. Among the performances that were announced by choir artistic director and founder Jakub Martinec and marketing director and board member Jennifer Gorman were a July 1 Canada Day debut of a new National Boychoir concert at the Holy Heart Theatre with performances by the Cantus Vocum Chamber Choir, the Atlantic Boychoir, the AVE Girls Choir, the Holy Heart of Mary Choir and the Les Ms. Women’s Choir. Other performances in 2018 will be at the Zelioli Festival 2018 in Lecce, Italy, and the Christmas Truce on Nov. 17 with special guest conductor Lucius Hemmer from Germany. The new year will start off with their annual gala on Jan. 19, 2019 with the Grammy Award-winning, U.k.-based ensemble The Swingles, a spring tour to England and France with special performances at Westminster Abbey and Truro Cathedral as a special guest of the famous Cornwall Male Festival in the spring of 2019 and, to round out the third season, a summer tour to California, with concerts in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. The Telegram (Saltwire Network) will be the major corporate sponsor for the Atlantic Boychoir 2018-19 performance season.
