Sharing a vision of the great advances being made in the technology sector was the driving point of the College of the North Atlantic (CNA) hosting its Innovation at Work showcase.

The event, which kicks off at the College of the North Atlantic’s Prince Philip campus Tuesday at 9 a.m., is a day-long innovation showcase highlighting projects and applied research and development at the college that are having a real impact on businesses, communities and post-secondary education throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The event will wrap up at 3 p.m. and will be followed by an optional industry site tour from 3-4:30 p.m.

The work the students contribute to this growth is being highlighted, and CNA students and initiatives will be the focus through their contributions to a host of projects.

Making these projects available for the public to see enhances the profile of the school, attracts high school students to take post-secondary education at CNA, shows the work being done by CNA students and possibly enhances employment opportunities for them and acts as a bridge between the school, its students and industry, community and government partners.

Activities throughout the day will be comprised of the Industry Innovation Challenge, Student Business Solutions Showcase, dozens of applied research and development poster sessions and tours/demonstrations of key equipment and facilities that enable innovation with CNA’S partners.

The event highlights CNA’S more than 1,200 employees and its more than 9,000 students and how they contribute to the innovation ecosystem throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Several of the feature events that will take place include:

• Business Solutions Student Showcase;

• Industry Applications for Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy;

• Seeing the World in a New Light: The Specim IQ Portable Hyperspectral Camera;

• Feature Event – Industry Innovation Challenge.

All activities for this day-long event take place in the gym at the Prince Philip Drive campus.
