Art to Inform

Designed to highlight issues surrounding the arts within an international context, Opera on the Avalon’s Symposium Series offers panel discussions and audience conversation around artistic, social, and political issues relating to mainstage productions. This second event in the series, cohosted with the PFLAG St. John’s Chapter, looks at art as a source of communication, an instrument for raising awareness, possessing the power to inspire equality and influence attitudinal change. By gathering together some of the most influential creators of art St. John’s has to offer, we hope to start an informative discussion about the importance of art to inform social change within our community. The discussion will be moderated by PFLAG St. John’s Chapter co-chair Charles Paul Murphy. Confirmed panelists include Robert Chafe (St. John’s playwright, artistic director and playwright for Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland) and Laura Kaminsky (composer of As One).
