Age 89 Years Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family on June 4th, 2018 at the Health Sciences Complex. Predeceased by his parents, brother Howard, sister Helen Allan, grandson Bradley Butler, nephew Gordon Butler, sister-inlaw Jetta Butler. Leaving behind with cherished and loving memories his loving wife of 58 years Ruth (Sheaves), son Wayde (Janet), daughter Valerie (Tim), grandsons: Brandon (Alyssa) and Jared, brother Jim (Ottawa), sister-in-law Ethel Butler, niece Elizabeth (Bill), nephews: Lloyd (Theresa), Randy (Grace), Bill (Lisa), Frank, Douglas and Judy (USA), also members of the Sheaves and Conrad family. He was a graduate of Memorial University and Nova Scotia Technical College with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, class of 1953. Gordon was proud of his profession and lengthy career with the Government of Canada, working with Fisheries and Oceans, Public Works and the Canadian Coast Guard. He was a life member of Association of Professional Engineers of NL, a member of St. John’s Lodge No 1 Masonic Order, and a founding member of the CCG Alumni Association, NL Region. Visitations will take place on Thursday, June 7th from 7pm-9pm and Friday, June 8th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Funeral service will be held from George Street United Church on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to the George Street United Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NL or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
