of Burnt Cove & St. John’s March 23, 1943 - June 5, 2018 In the early morning hours of June 5, the angels came to Agnes Pratt home to take Mary (Doyle) Ennis home to be with her family gone before her: parents, Charlie and Mary Doyle, parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth Ennis and deceased members of Doyle and Ennis families. Left behind with broken hearts are her husband of 54 years, Joseph Ennis; her son Jody and daughter-in-law, Michelle Ennis, her daughter, Jillian and son-in-law, Ian Whittle; cherished grandchildren Ava and Keegan Ennis; brothers Patrick (Madonna) Doyle and Stephen (Bernice) Doyle and their families; sisters-in-law Catherine (Hayward) Newhook, Esther Ennis (Patrick, deceased), Myrtle Ennis (James, deceased), brothers-in-law Thomas (Theresa) Ennis and Austin (Ann) Ennis, Larry Brown (Margaret, deceased) and their families. Remembering her fondly and with wonderful memories will be many nieces, nephews and other relatives too numerous to mention, as well as many special friends on the Southern Shore, Placentia, Merasheen and St. John’s. Mary was a very family-oriented person who loved to celebrate all special occasions. A family favourite was her pre-christmas “Nieces Cookie Making Day” at her house on Summer Street. She loved organizing parties and especially gathering together friends and relatives from Merasheen Island at their Merasheen House in Jerseyside, Placentia. Sadly her life changed drastically with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Many thanks to her wonderful caregivers at Agnes Pratt Home where she and her husband Joseph, also suffering from dementia, have been residing together for the last few years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
