An exhibition of works by Monday’s Company at Memorial University Botanical Garden, 306 Mt. Scio Rd. Monday’s Company have been painting with Diana Dabinett for 25 years. The opening reception for this exhibit is from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition runs from June 8 to July 12. As the room is sometimes in use, phone ahead to make sure the exhibition is open. Call 864-8590.

Join us at The Annex at Admiralty House for a unique living history tour of our “Faces of the Florizel” exhibit. Let our historical performers take you back in time with vivid depictions of the sad night the SS Florizel was lost. Save the date: on July 31 our Red Seal chef, Antoine Harding, will prepare a delicious three-course fish dinner for the Fluvarium’s annual Fish Fry Fundraiser. N.L. Pet Expo

Beagle Paws presents the 12th annual NL Pet Expo at Mount Pearl Glacier. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the petthemed booths have something for every animal lover. Admission is $7 and free for children five years and

under. All proceeds go to rescue and rehome unwanted beagles in the province.

The St. John’s Retired Citizens Associatio­n is holding a giant flea market at 10 Bennett Ave. starting at 9 a.m. Admission is just 50 cents.

Ugly Fat Quarter Quilt Challenge The Fabric Merchant’s 1st annual Ugly Fat Quarter Challenge: 11 local quilters were given a fat quarter of fabric and three weeks to slice it, dice it and add to it to create a 50” x 50” quilt. The entire fat quarter had to be evident on the pieced front of the quilt, but otherwise the quilters could choose their ultimate design. Completed quilts are hung throughout Posie Row & Co. until June 9. People are invited to vote for their favourite. Everyone who votes is entered to win a $50 gift certificat­e. On June 10, the quilt with the most votes will be awarded a $500 gift certificat­e from The Fabric Merchant. Participan­ts are encouraged to donate their quilts to Daffodil Place.
