Ongoing NSO welcomes The Tenors

The Newfoundla­nd Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is happy to announce that tickets are on sale now for the NSO Exxonmobil Big Ticket, the NSO’S annual fundraiser. The concert will take place on Oct. 11 at Mile One Centre and will feature The Tenors, backed by the NSO. A decade after forming in their native Canada, The Tenors are an internatio­nal success story. With their robust singing and seamless blend of classical and contempora­ry pop textures, Victor Micallef, Clifton Murray and Fraser Walters have scored multiplati­num sales, performed for the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Queen Elizabeth II, and shared stages with superstars such as Paul Mccartney and Justin Bieber. Art Ongoing Brushes with Nature

An exhibition of works by Monday’s Company at Memorial University Botanical Garden, 306 Mt. Scio Rd. Monday’s Company have been painting with Diana Dabinett for 25 years. The exhibition runs from June 8 to July 12. As the room is sometimes in use, phone ahead to make sure the exhibition is open. Call 864-8590.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13 Children Ongoing Fluvarium’s Summer Nature Camps

Registrati­on is now open for The Fluvarium’s summer nature camps, designed to capture the interest and the imaginatio­n of young campers ages six through 12. Fish on Long Pond, swim at the Aquarena, relax in the forest and explore nature through engaging and thought-provoking programs. Camp cost is $165 (plus HST) and campers will be provided with a T-shirt. Limited space is available, and some weeks fill fast, so call 754-3474 to register.

Dave Hoddinott is the artist-inresidenc­e at the Heritage Shop, 309 Water St., until June 17. Visit Dave at the second-floor gallery, where you can watch him paint and view his artwork every Wednesday through Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

Fish Fry at The Fluvarium

Save the date: on July 31 our Red Seal chef, Antoine Harding, will prepare a delicious three course fish dinner for the Fluvarium’s annual Fish Fry Fundraiser. All proceeds go toward children’s environmen­tal education programs. Call 754-FISH (3474) for tickets. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.

Lobster Dinner at The Kirk

The 42nd annual Lobster Dinner at The Kirk (St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 76 Queen’s Rd.) is a popular dinner that always sells quickly. Takeout orders can be picked up any time after 4:30 p.m. The eat-in big feast in the hall is at 7 p.m. Cost is $60. Included are two cooked and split Newfoundla­nd lobsters, assorted salads, buns and trifle for dessert. A takeout lobster dinner is a date night picnic for two, or you can join us in the hall for the big feast. Reserved seating for groups of eight or more. 2018 marks the 100th anniversar­y of the SS Florizel disaster which is an important part of Newfoundla­nd history. Join us at The Annex at Admiralty House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and make your own 3-D porthole craft. Cost is $3 per child and includes all supplies. Parents/guardians are free to view the “Faces of the Florizel” exhibit while kids craft in the classroom.
