Terra Nova set to host Royal Lepage Provincial Junior Championsh­ips

Golf Newfoundla­nd Labrador (Golf NL), in partnershi­p with Royal Lepage and with the support of Pepsi, Wedgwood Insurance and Old Dutch, is hosting the 2018 Provincial Junior /Juvenile/bantam Boys and Girls Provincial Championsh­ips on the Twin Rivers Course at Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community at Port Blandford July 1-4

The competitio­n schedule includes a practice round on Sunday, with player registrati­on 4-6 p.m., followed by a payers meeting in the clubhouse.

The tournament will include three days of stroke play competitio­n. Divisional competitio­n will be held during the first two days, with awards for net prizes in each division presented at the players dinner on Tuesday, July 3.

The championsh­ip presentati­ons and announceme­nt of teams to represent the province at Atlantic and national championsh­ips will be at the clubhouse on Wednesday afternoon, July 4.

As part of the practice round, competitor­s will compete in the annual “Old Dutch Skills Challenge.”

The skills competitio­n will include closest-to-the-pin, longest drive and a hole-inone events. Again this year, the skills competitio­n will be sponsored by Old Dutch, with prizes to be awarded to the top male and female in each competitio­n at the players dinner.

The top three male and females will be eligible to represent the province at the Future Links Atlantic Championsh­ips driven by Acura at Terra Nova July 16-19. They will also be eligible to represent the province at the Canadian junior national championsh­ips.

This year, the national boys championsh­ips is at Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club in Medicine Hat, Alta., July 30Aug. 2, while the national girls championsh­ip will be at Beach Grove Golf Club in Tsawwassen, B.C., July 31-Aug. 3
