Norcott makes hole-in-one at ‘The Drive’ fundraising event
Bill Norcott was the lucky winner of the Wedgwood Insurance Holein-one played on the par 3, third hole on the Twin Rivers Course during the second round of The Drive fundraising event at Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community last weekend. Norcott, a member of Terra Nova and a resident of Clarenville, was playing with Larry and Brenda Reid and his wife Marie on Sunday when he made the shot to claim a cash prize of $10,000. The event attracted 75 patrons from across the region and included two rounds of golf, shared accommodations, a meal with a silent and live auction, and a raffle followed by live entertainment provided by Phantom 4. A number of awards were presented in the competition, with Doug Fraser winning the Peoria Division and Steve Snow capturing the Stableford Division. In the longest drive competition, Glenn Bruce won the men’s division, while Sherilynn Beaton won the ladies’ division. Janis Byrne won the closest-tothe-pin contribution for the ladies, while Gerry Barbour won in the men’s division. Proceeds from The Drive help Golf NL continue host “Best in Class” golf competitions at provincial championships and support our provincial teams at the Future Links, Atlantic and national championships. Golf NL acknowledges the staff and management of Terra Nova Resort for providing fantastic support in hosting the event, which saw a number of partners, including BMW St. John’s, Wedgwood Insurance, Taylormade, Glendening Golf, The Idea Factory, Pennecon, and Compusult , as well as Golf NL member courses, making contributions towards the auction packages.
